Woodland Management Project, Shipley

Sandyfields was asked to clear an 8,000m2 area from a steep bank on farmland to create space for new woodland.

The team cleared bracken, brambles and gorse on land with an incline of up to 30 degrees.

Once the land had been cleared, the team stockpiled the waste material ready for compositing and mulching so it could be recycled back into the ground and used as a weed suppressant.

Due to the light and sandy soil on the incline, the team had to take great care while operating a 13 ton excavator equipped with an Engcon head with tree shear and grab.
