Stu Lambeth, Facebook

"Where do I start? From the first phone call through to the last remnants being cleared, these guys display the utmost professionalism.

Competitive pricing, friendly staff, incredibly helpful and understanding of a very vulnerable person's needs, even during difficult circumstances. These guys can't be faulted.
Thank you!"

5 star review

"Sandyfields did a fantastic job cutting down several very large leylandii in our garden, and putting up a new feather-edge fence in their place.

The trees were overgrown and overhanging, but they made short work of cutting them down. They were safe, careful and thorough, doing everything to a high standard.

We couldn't be happier with the results and wouldn't hesitate to use Sandyfields again."

Tree Surgery FAQ

Take a look at our Frequently Asked Questions section to get answers on the most common tree surgery, garden landscaping and hedge cutting questions:

What’s the best time of year to have my trees or hedges trimmed?

Most types of hedges can be cut at any time of the year, although Sandyfields can make specific recommendations for you after viewing your hedge. With most species of tree, the best time to prune or fell is during the winter months, after all their autumn leaves have fallen but before the first buds of early spring. November, December and January are ideal times.

However, there are some species of tree that need to be pruned right after flowering to reduce infection. Others, such as walnut, birch and magnolia would need to be pruned in summer months from July onwards.

Will my garden be left tidy after tree pruning or hedge cutting?

Absolutely. Sandyfields promise to leave your garden exactly as we found it, and any dead branches or cuttings from our work will be removed from the site when we leave.

Should I seek permission to cut down a tree in my garden?

Possibly. Before we can carry out any tree cutting or felling services, you will need to check whether the tree has had a Tree Preservation Order placed on it. If it does, you should seek permission from the tree officer at your local council - even if you only want to remove a single branch.

These rules also apply if you live in a Conservation Area, even if individual trees in your garden do not have a Tree Preservation Order. In both cases, you will need to complete an application form which is then submitted to your local authority to grant permission.

Additionally, if the tree is outside your garden area, you may need a seek a felling license from the Forestry Commission. However, if your tree does not have a Tree Preservation Order and you don’t live in a Conservation Area, then you do not require permission and can proceed with your project. For more information, please contact your local tree officer.

Will you check for birds’ nests before doing any work?

Yes. Sandyfields always conduct a nesting survey of your tree before commencing any felling project, to ensure that we don’t impact wildlife. Additionally, we always advise our customers that it is illegal to fell trees during breeding season, since this could destroy nests.

What’s the best time of year to have my garden landscaped?

We carry out garden landscaping projects at all times of the year. However, if your project involves planting new shrubs or trees, we would aim to avoid the hotter, dryer summer months as this places additional stress on new plants. Generally, the months between October and March are optimal.

Is my garden too small to be landscaped?

No, not at all. Sandyfields can help to transform your garden, patio or outdoor space, however large or small. There are lots of things we can do in smaller spaces and our friendly team can advise you on how to make the most of the space you have available.

For a free, no-obligation quote or to discuss your tree surgery, groundworks or landscaping requirements in more detail, please contact Sandyfields and we’ll come back to you as soon as we can. We look forward to hearing from you.
